PTT Philippines Corporation (PTTPC) is one of the wholly owned subsidiary companies in the Philippines of Petroleum Authority of Thailand Public Company Limited. Aside from its want to serve petroleum products to the people, they are annually doing this Tree-planting project as their contribution to saving the environment.
Tree planting is a very positive action to take for the environment and is one answer to the threat of global warming. Trees play an important role in sustainable living. They provide fuel that is virtually carbon-neutral, fruit and nuts for food, timber, shelter for smallholdings and farms and they help prevent soil erosion. There is no doubt that every single tree planted is of real benefit to the planet. That is why this project of PTT is very helpful one.
PTT had its 3rd “Gas up for Tree-planting and Eco-Tour” yesterday October 11, 2013 in Morong, Bataan. Among those who participated and attended the event include Demetrio Ignacio, the Undersecretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) President Arnel Casanova. Former BCDA chairman Felicito Payumo. Dr. Lourdes Cruz of National Research Council of the Philippines. Col. Jeff Tamayo of Philippine Committee. Ms. Gina Lopez of Abs-cbn foundation was also supposed to be there, but unfortunately she wasn’t able to come but she sent there the ANC staff. The PTT president and chief executive officer Wisarn Chawalitanon led the said activity.
The Aeatas from Magbukun tribe serve as PTT’s partner in taking care of the Trees planted in the area. It was said that more than 100 Aeta families from Magbukun tribe were given livelihood as managers of a nursery seedlings and caretaker of the trees that have been planted.
PTT plants 10 thousand trees, and in 3 months they are expected to breach the 3-year target. This kind of project is one of the ways in savng our environment. PTT is really concerned regarding the situation of our nature. So let us all support the PTT’s Tree-planting project, in this way, we’ll be able to fulfill our responsibilities for the environment.
