Euro 6 is a European emissions legislation that requires new model vehicles to meet reduced tailpipe emission limits by installing catalytic converters and other emission control devices. It requires low sulfur fuel (<10 ppm) to ensure lifetime operation of the catalytic converters since the sulfur clogs and deactivates the catalysts. Qualifying for the Euro 6 standard means that the fuel must have its particle numbers, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons in vehicle emissions significantly reduced. Particle number (PN) is the additional criterion that separates Euro 5 and Euro 6 fuel standards. Blaze 100 Euro 6 passed the PN tests as it contains less than 3 ppm (parts per million) sulfur, compared to the Euro 6 standard of 10 ppm maximum. SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company, were sent samples of Blaze 100 Euro 6 from Petron’s Bataan refinery and from random stations. The SGS laboratories in the United Kingdom, Singapore and the Philippines claimed that it met specifications (EN 228:2012) for Euro 6-technology vehicles. Samples were also sent to ISP The Testing Institute – a leading engine and vehicle testing laboratory for fuels and lubricants development — for a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) test, which addresses fuel economy and emissions. This test that is used in newer European, American, and Asian car models found that Blaze 100 Euro 6 did not cause carbon deposits in GDI engines. Blaze 100 Euro 6 also underwent an Intake Valve Deposit (IVD) test under Millbrook Proving Ground, which provides validation and engineering services in the automotive, transport, and defense industries, also tested. Blaze 100 Euro 6 was found to have cleaned over 70% of engine deposits in 60 hours, which passes the “Euro 6b” emission standard.
