20131126-155758.jpg Today marks the 85th anniversary of PLDT and looking back to its early beginnings, nine of its loyal subscribers were recognized in a simple dinner at Makati Shangri-La. The awardees are subscribers coming from different locations–Metro Manila, Northern Luzon, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao, and Zamboanga. These subscribers were selected from the PLDT HOME’s Most Loyal Connections Conducted just recently. The awardees were PLDT loyal subscribers since 1960s, 1970s, 1980s up to the present. Trophies and gift certificates were given to the most loyal subscribers. The awarding was led by PLDT President and CEO Napoleon Nazareno and EVP and Head of Home Business Ariel Fermin. Other PLDT executives present at the event were PLDT SVP and HR Group Head Butch Jimenez, FVP and Head of Financial Reporting and Controllership Chaye Cabal-Revilla, and Public Affairs Group head Ramon Isberto. “This is our simple way of giving thanks to our subscribers who have been with us through the years. We are truly grateful that they allowed PLDT to become a part of the live.” -Napoleon Nazareno Daria Gonzaga from Sta. Mesa, Manila, one of the oldest connected line installed in 1961, shared her experience back in the 50s. She said that when she was still a student, her family didn’t have a telephone at home, “I used to call one of our neighbors who had a telephone. It was very inconvenient so I asked my Mama and told her that it’s better if we have our own line.” Gonzaga inherited the line after she got married, “Since I am always at home, being a full housewife, the telephone is my bridge in communicating with my children every now and then.” Laura Domingo, also a PLDT loyal subscriber shared, “Our original telephone line was owned by my grandmother who had it installed in the 60s, so our landline must be about 50 years old by now.” Domingo also upgraded their line and subscribed to PLDT myDSL, “I had myDSL installed in our reliable PLDT landline and my children are all benefiting from it. Kasi ‘yun ang ginagamit nila sa pag-aaral. Nung nag-college ang mga anak ko, ‘dun nagre-research sa myDSL. I also have an extension of that in my office.” The other PLDT loyal subscribers who were given an award are: Lito Salvador from Tarlac City Zenaida Jamilla from Boac, Marinduque Lilia Cutang from Mandaue City, Cebu Lourdes Javelosa from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Erlinda Guyo from Davao City Irene Patajo from Zamboanga Del Sur Henry Chusuey from Iloilo]]>
